Scuitto Lake Kamloops Ride and Foodbank Fundraiser

Sunday, May 30, 2010 - 9:00 am

The Kamloops ATV Club is hosting a ride and fundraiser for the food bank, the cost is $25 per person with $20 going to the food bank and $5 for the BBQ.

The start time is 9:00am at the Campbell Lake staging area, you can choose to ride the long loop (approx 75km) or the short loop (approx 25km). Bring something for lunch on the trail, the BBQ with smokies, hamburgers, hot dogs, salads and pop will be provided after the run.

On-site camping is available for those wanting to go Saturday, May 29 and do some exploring of the Scuitto Lake/Campbell Lake area.

Please email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) if you’re planning to attend this event so we can let Kamloops know how many people to expect for the BBQ. Please let us know if you’re planning to drive up Saturday or Sunday, we’ll try to coordinate a convoy if people are going at the same time.

Driving Directions:
Coming from the Okanagan turn left onto Barnhartvale Road off of Hwy 97, head west until just past Eagle Point Golf Course (golf course is on your right), turn left onto Robbins Range Road, follow this road keeping right and it will turn into Robbins Range Rd and Campbell Range Rd then you come to the Scuitto Lake Forestry Road in another 3.8 kms, turn right and follow Scuitto Lake Forestry Road for approximately 11 kms and arrive at the Scuitto Lake parking area where you will unload and then ride your machines the next 4km to Campbell Lake staging area (it will be well marked) where you will park your machine then walk the last couple hundred yards to the registration area. This is where the ride will start and end, as well as the dinner will be here. There isn’t enough room at Campbell Lake to leave 50+ vehicles and unload, also this is a public area and we want to leave it accessible.

Camping Directions:
Campers when arriving you can continue past the parking area which won’t be set up until Sunday morning and carry on the last 4 kms to the Campbell Lake campsite. You travel east along Scuitto Lake and at the end of the lake you turn right between the two lakes and travel up that road for 1km or so and take the first left into the campsite. No signage on the road, depending when you get there we will have a GKAA banner at the entrance. Or you can camp anywhere along Scuitto Lake.

Kamloops Foodbank Fundraiser

You’d expect Kamloops to be dry and dusty, not this year as it had rained for several days prior to the annual fundraiser ride. This year the Kamloops club was raising funds for the foodbank, 73 riders turned out and raised $2060, great job!!!

The Greater Kamloops ATV Association did an awesome job of having almost every type of trail you could think of on the ride. And as a bonus for those who like mud, the days of rain before the event meant every low spot on the trail had filled with water so there was lots of splashing through muck for everyone. A very well organized event with great trails, lots of food and fundraising for a great cause, mark this ride on your calendar for 2011!
