A good ride with a little surprise
Clint Ingham
There’s still lots of snow and it’s really heavy snow so you can’t deviate from the trail or you’re stuck within feet. A great ride with some new riders and as an added bonus we found a box of guinea pigs who had been abandoned on the side of the road near the parking area.
King Eddy Road Cleanup
Clint Ingham
A huge thank you to everyone who came out and worked through the muggy heat and rain to clean up King Eddy Road. We pulled 5-6 truckloads of garbage off the roadsides and ditches from the highway up to 4km on King Eddy. Coldstream Ranch is extremely happy with the cleanup, great job everyone!!!

Having a little fun in “Big Bertha” or “Little Becker” on the road near Becker Lake.
Sunday Snow Ride
Clint Ingham
Wow, what a day! Woke up and saw the sun and the clear blue sky and new we were going to have a great ride.
10 happy souls enjoyed a perfectly sunny and mild Sunday exploring roads and trails around King Eddy and Damer Lakes. King Eddy Road was recently plowed, Oyama Lake Road had not been but had seen lots of OHV traffic so there was a pretty well worn trail which made for easy riding if you could play slot car and stick to the tracks. There were 3 track equipped ATVs on the ride who did a little trail breaking, occasional tow duty and then tried to keep up with the wheeled ATVs when the trail was well packed.
We stopped at the Damer Lake forest recreation site for a lunchtime campfire then a little playing around on the frozen lake before heading home. It was great to see 4 new riders out, we hope to see you on a ride again soon!
First trip of 2011
Steve Myatt
Really short notice on this ride so only two of us showed up for a incredible trip into Damer Lake. Over two feet of snow if you stepped of the trail, hard work for the quads. Stopped and had lunch, then back to loading area, a great ride!
Winter ride to Bear Lake
Ken Milchalko
We went to Bear Lake and it was a great ride, some tricky hills, tip overs, and freeze ups, but it was a blast.

Trail Mapping Great New Trails
Clint Ingham
Thanks to everyone who came out to help map the trails. In addition to mapping our existing trails we found and mapped a bunch of trails to the south, including an interesting loop south of Doreen Lake that followed the road past a number of other lakes.
Sunset Ride Photos
Clint Ingham
18 people came out for the BBQ and we had 16 riders on 15 machines for the evening ride. We left the bottom of King Eddy at 6:00pm, headed up the main road then jumped onto the poker ride trails at Brett’s house. We continued up the poker ride trails, stopping a couple of times to donate blood to the mosquitoes while enjoying the view, we then continued on to the bottom of Fan Hill where we went east instead of west on the poker ride trails. The trails east of Fan Hill make their way south around Bear Lake on some great ‘roller coaster’ style trails before joining back up with the poker ride trails to head back down to the vehicles to complete the ride around 9:30pm. A fantastic ride, let’s do another sunset ride in a couple of weeks!
Kamloops Foodbank Fundraiser
Clint Ingham
You’d expect Kamloops to be dry and dusty, not this year as it had rained for several days prior to the annual fundraiser ride. This year the Kamloops club was raising funds for the foodbank, 73 riders turned out and raised $2060, great job!!!
The Greater Kamloops ATV Association did an awesome job of having almost every type of trail you could think of on the ride. And as a bonus for those who like mud, the days of rain before the event meant every low spot on the trail had filled with water so there was lots of splashing through muck for everyone. A very well organized event with great trails, lots of food and fundraising for a great cause, mark this ride on your calendar for 2011!
Bear Creek Open House
Clint Ingham
5 members of the Vernon ATV club attended the Bear Creek Open House and the official opening of the Bald Creek bridge. After all the ceremonies we took a spin on the new sustainable trails, which were a blast. The OTRA club has done a great job building safe, interesting trails which mitigate the environmental issues some of the old trails had.

Ride of the year
Clint Ingham
Today’s ride was the best ride of the year so far and is one of the best rides I’ve ever been on. We started off by taking inventory of the condition of the Pond & Aberdeen Trails area then toured a portion of the interpretive forest before making our way to the Cabin for lunch. After lunch we took stock of the Cabin and what would be needed to bring it up to spec again then we headed back out onto the cabin trail network. We did a couple of loops of the cabin trail network then headed down along the Fence Trail which makes it’s way down to the south west corner of Vernon Hill over the Buchanan/Upper Summit area to enjoy the trails and magnificent views of Coldstream & Vernon. We made our way back up to Becker Lake for a leisurely break in the sun then we headed out to the powerlines where we found a smooth snowfield along the road, riding on top of the snow was like getting first tracks on a powder day, Steve and I enjoyed it so much we took three runs down the hill.
A special thanks to Scott for coming down from Kamloops for the ride, we hope it was worth the drive. Check out Scott’s RZR, he’s done all the mods himself and will soon be selling custom RZR parts that are well thought out and well built.

La Casa / Bear Creek Ride
Clint Ingham
A great ride, eight machines and ten people took part in this ride from La Casa to Bear Creek OHV area and back. It was amazing to see all the work the OTRA crew has done at Bear Creek closing off unsustainable trails and building new trails that follow the contours of the land to prevent erosion. The photo of the bridge shows how much work has gone into this area, great work OTRA!
We capped the ride off with a quick shot up towards Terrace Mountain to survey the fire damage. Some people were amazed to see how large the burn was and others were depressed to see all the black sticks, but it’s just part of the fire cycle and new green growth will spring up as soon as the snow is gone.

An epic day of early spring riding at Becker Lake. The weather was beautiful and most of the trails were passable, the rest we’re just a bit more work.

Irish Creek Road Ride
Clint Ingham
Another great turnout with 14 people and 12 machines for this ride. We didn’t quite make it as far as we hoped due to steep hills and deep crystal snow, but it was fun anyway. Thanks to the pushers, especially Lee and Tanner who get a real workout on snowy rides because they push more than they ride. This will be an excellent ride come spring, Pinaus Lake is an obvious destination and you can ride forever on the road network.
Winter Becker Lake ride

A great turnout for this 1st club ride of the season! 18 riders and 15 machines… Where are my tracks?

Breakfast Ride & Trail Cleanup

The breakfast and trail cleanup ride from Don’s house went great. Just about all the ribbon and signs are down, and it was a wild ride with lunch at one of the many lakes. Many thanks to Don for putting on breakfast and setting up the great ride!
Terrace Mountain Ride
Clint Ingham
A beautiful early fall ride through the Terrace Mountain Fire. Awe inspiring views along the ride and from Terrace Mountain a birds eye view of the area burnt by the fire. It was interesting to see how intensely the fire burned in areas and then it would jump and leave some trees totally untouched.
